Bonaire is evolving. The island attracts more and more people. Airlines are also responding to this. New airlines are being added and existing airlines are offering additional flights to Bonaire. Read the latest airline news for Bonaire here.

Extra flights KLM

The Dutch airline KLM announced this week that it will add two extra flights from Amsterdam to Bonaire. These are additional flights during the winter season, which runs from December 15, 2025 to March 27, 2026. The flights will be operated by Airbus A330 and will be combined with a stopover in Aruba. The additional flights will be operated on Fridays and Sundays. So on these days, two KLM flights will arrive at Bonaire's airport.

This makes Bonaire even more accessible from the Netherlands, but also from the rest of Europe. In addition to KLM, Corendon and TUI also offer several flights per week between Schiphol and Kralendijk.

Newcomer Air Century

This week, the first flight of Dominican airline Air Century also landed on Bonaire. This airline will operate flights to and from the Dominican Republic during the vacation season. Another Dominican airline, Sky High, has been operating on Bonaire for some time. They offer flights between Santo Domingo and our island.

Passenger numbers at Bonaire International Airport

Bonaire's airport continues to grow in terms of passenger numbers. In the second quarter of 2025, nearly 12 percent more passengers arrived on the island compared to the same period a year earlier. There was also substantial growth in the first quarter of 2025. Back then it was nearly 11 percent more passengers.

The growth is partly due to JetBlue's new flights, which connect Bonaire to New York's JFK airport. American Airlines is also driving growth in the number of passengers coming to Bonaire.

Bonaire's airport director has indicated that a record number of passengers may arrive and depart at Flamingo Airport this year. It could be 500,000 passengers, if the trend continues like this.

Airport sustainability

The airport will also become more sustainable. Carports with solar panels will be placed over the short-term parking lot at the airport. In total, nearly 3,000 square meters of solar panels will be installed.
