Dia di Rincon is considered one of the most important holidays of the year on Bonaire. Every year on April 30 this day is celebrated exuberantly. There will be many cultural activities and a beautiful parade through the streets of Rincon. Also in the month preceding Dia di Rincon there are already all kinds of cultural activities.
On Dia di Rincon the inhabitants of Rincon celebrate their traditions, culture and history. They do this because on that day the harvest period (simadan) also ends. There is even special music and a dance, the simadan, to celebrate this.

April 30 is finally here: it is Dia di Rincon. Traditionally, in the early morning the flag is raised in Rincon. There is also a visit to the church, where there is a special mass. Then the festive activities follow. Various performances create a cozy atmosphere. As the highlight, a beautiful parade passes through the streets of the village in the north of Bonaire. During the parade the participants all wear traditional costumes. The parade always attracts many visitors, both visitors to the island and locals.
During the holiday there are also all kinds of stands along the route. Here you can order cold drinks and try local dishes.

The festivities during Dia di Rincon on April 30 will be celebrated in the center of Rincon. This village is Bonaire's oldest settlement and is about a 20-minute drive from downtown Kralendijk. The parade on the holiday will march through the streets of the village. Performances are held on various stages along this route.
Tip: Dia di Rincon has been an official holiday on Bonaire since 2020. That means many stores, businesses and government institutions are closed on that day.
