Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire

Your adopted nest has hatched! It was a big nest with 121 empty egg shells, meaning that 121 baby turtles hatched. When my colleague Daan and our intern Tessa excavated the nest yesterday morning, they found three hatchlings still in the nest. We were therefore able to confirm that this was a hawksbill nest. Daan and Tessa released the little turtles. Unfortunately, they also found 63 eggs that hadn’t hatched. The majority of these eggs were infertile, meaning that the mama turtle was unable to fertilize all the eggs.

Please find your summary here and a photo of the hatchlings.
